This post is the 2nd in series of images of Paris taken in 2021, the first was #1103 Scenes of the Seine
Churches are something I visit reasonably often, not for worship, but to enjoy the solitude and admire the architectural, workmanship, beauty and splendour. I sometimes sit and ponder just how they were constructed with the tools available centuries ago. The engineering and decorative skills are a tribute to their ingenuity.
I’ve decided that I’ll allow these images speak for themselves
Without windows there is no light and as photographers that is important.
Pascal O, asked could I provide lens data in future posts, unfortunately my Nikon Z7 doesn’t get full exif data for the Voigtländer Lens.

So beautifully rendered, colour, micro contrast are perfect!
Thanks Ken.
Brilliant – I love it!
Thanks Pete.
Lovely images.
Many thanks Christopher.
Absolutely stunning Dallas!
David, thank you for your generous comments
Stunning and wonderful… used to go to Paris several times a year for work and often was there on a long weekend; I’d go into some of the largely vacant churches and sit and wonder and pray. Several of these images are just breath-taking and precisely (Milvus) reflect the transcendence of the artwork.
Lets hope you can see Paris again soon thanks for your comments
Wow, these certainly do speak for themselves! Great light rendition and falloff. Combined with the detail and color this makes for a beautiful collection.
Thanks Micheal
Absolutely stunning pictures, Dallas, thank you!
Thank you for providing the Exif data ;-).
I look forward to many more in this brilliant series. Just remarkable.
The pleasure was mine Pascal
Ah Dallas! I can add something to those images, since, in some instances I was with you when you shot them. And mine… well, let’s say it is just as well they aren’t on the same page…. congrats! More power to your elbow!
Many thanks Philippe.
Nice work, Dallas! It makes me yearn to be back in Paris where, like you, I can duck into churches and cathedrals to enjoy the beauty of the interiors without the dogma. I especially like the first two images for their symmetry and details. Kudos!
Thanks Nancee
As someone who works in and for churches, you have captured the great beauty that many never get to see. When a person comes for a service the church is usually well-lighted, and while that is good a necessary for worship, sometimes the real beauty is in the dimmer light, especially early or late in the day. In my opinion, when a church is subtly lit or lit solely by natural light, it reveals a true “other worldly” aspect of its beauty.
Micheal many thanks for your kind comments.
Dallas, I thoroughly enjoyed these very finely-crafted images of gorgeous works of art/architecture. Thank you for sharing them. A small request: For those of us unacquainted with Paris, would it be possible to name the churches?
Thanks Lad, small omission on my part I will try and amend in the next few days.
Exquisite !
Thanks ian.
