Recipe for fun is simple. Take a bunch of guys (where are the gals in photography, I ask ???) who spend an indecent amount of time talking about photography. Take a rather nice-looking city in unusually kind weather, wake up early, walk all day, feed at regular intervals.
Paris is alive with the sound of clicking.
Day 1 went fairly well, if you ask me. Up at sparrow, nice coffee opposite the hotel …
… quick tube ride (where we all go berserk on an innocent passenger’s hair) …
…to site one (Pont de Bir Hakeim) for sunrise on the Seine and Eiffel Tower, to start a day geared towards unpostcarding the postcard (tm by Philippe).
(spoiler alert: Joakim kindly loaned me his Summilux 50/1.4 ASPH, which was used for the photograph below. Watch this space for a coming brief review).
Above, allusion to a red dot purely fortuitous ? ;).
I’ll not bore you with a “what I did on my holiday” account of this first day. But the idea was to get into our stride by visiting popular sites while trying create photographs of them that go beyond the iconic. You may recognise a few.
Okay, let’s disregard this total postcard 😉
Onwards. Trocadero.
Champ de Mars
Invalides
(then along the Seine and into other places …) This went on into the evening.
But enough of my chatter and personal selection, here are some samples from the some of the other members of the group 🙂 (in alphabetical order)
Joakim
Paul
Philippe
Steve

Sigh – last trip, I shot Bi Hakeim – and all those photos around the Tour & Trocadero – we married in Paris, and our “wedding shots” used the Tour and the fountain as backdrops. Hope you all have a great time – I’m loving the photos.
Hi Pete, quite a memory, then … The occasion wasn’t as grand for us but it was still great to be in such a lovely location in such fine weather (with suc fine company). Maybe we can meet in Paris some day ? 🙂 Cheers, Pascal
