A lot has happened at DearSusan’s since our last news recap at #200.

Yay us !

Yay us, happy Team DearSusan !

In these 4 months,we have :

Huangshan mountains, Study 44, Anhui, China. (c) Michael Kenna, 2010.

However, two events stand out for us:

    • First of all, we have had the great pleasure to welcome Philip Partridge as new contributor. For those who haven’t read his articles (I recommend you do, they truly are excellent), Philip is an expert photographer and brilliant travel writer with a strong penchant for India and Tibet. Having visited the area 20 times in the past 30 year, Philip has shared some of his insights and superb imagery on several occasions and is already preparing more articles for our delight.

We are very proud of Philip’s contributions and look forward to a long-term relationship.

    • And, speaking of insights, we’re very excited to present our very own series of photographer-oriented travel ebooks, a series we have called InSight: Guides. Realizing just how much work preparing a field trip is and how little traditional tourist guides help, we set out to create a new type of travel ebook that focuses exclusively on the needs of photographers and provides them with first hand information on specific areas of a city.

These travel guides focus on self-guided walks, and include detailed maps, sample photographs of the area and accompanying text for orientation information, gear recommendations and other tips such as best time of day. For more information, we have prepared an F.A.Q. page.

The first 4 guides we are offering are:

The InSight store officially launches tomorrow July, 1rst. We have done our very best to keep prices very low and each guide is $7.99. Each will be maintained and regularly updated. And new guides will be added on a regular basis. 4 more are scheduled towards the end of the summer.

Your comments and questions are welcome and we’d appreciate all the sharing you can give us to get the InSight collection off the ground 🙂

What’s to come?

In the next 50 instalments, expect plenty more, starting in a couple of days !

Philippe (that’s long-time contributor Philippe, not Philip, phew) is working on a series of shoot-outs that will make some gnash their teeth (myself included).

We are already working on new interviews with people who bring a lot to the world of photography today.

We will be visiting more exciting locations and reporting on them. Plenty more on the UK, France, Malaysia and Australia to come !

As I said above, 4 more InSight: Guides are in preparation and more will follow after that.

And, we are hoping to welcome a new talented photographer as contributor. Talks have begun. If you are interested in writing for DS, know that you are welcome and drop us a line at info@dearsusan.net.
